Mission Statement
The Ithaca City of Asylum (ICOA) project supports human rights and freedom of expression for writers exiled from their home countries. We provide a safe haven through a two-year residency and serve as a bridge to our partner campuses and communities, helping the writer have access to important resources. We support the creation of new work through translation, editing, and assistance in finding outlets for publication and public presentation of their work. We provide financial assistance for housing and help the writer and his or her family establish a social network. |
