Ithaca Kitchen Cupboard

Mission:

Ithaca Kitchen Cupboard, a project of Area Congregations Together since 1969, serves as an emergency and supplementary food pantry for people in the City and Town of Ithaca who live at or below 185% of the poverty level.  The Cupboard is open daily and provides eligible households with groceries for three days' worth of balanced meals which can be prepared in their own homes.  The Cupboard is operated, staffed and supported by volunteers from the two dozen congregations participating in Area Congregations Together.

Gifts:

$5     buys SOUP for 15 families.  Canned or dry soup is a mainstay on our lunch shelves along with peanut butter, jam, tuna and crackers.

$10   buys DAIRY PRODUCTS for 20 meals.  Yogurt, mozzarella cheese, margarine, eggs, and canned or dry milk provide good protein and calcium.

$25   buys DINNER ENTREES for 10 families.  Frozen and canned meats and stews are a more expensive part of balanced meals in our complete nutrition guidelines.

$35   buys HEALTH SUPPLIES for 20 families.  Toilet tissue and soap are given with every order (and cannot be  purchased with food stamps.)

$_____ Any amount buys FOOD to keep our shelves full every day for hungry families in Ithaca.
